Edit Envy

So, my bff just gave me a swift kick in the blog comment's & told me I needed to blog something.  I'm not lacking in material & I have pics that I need to blog.  I'm just not feeling it.  I really need to change my background too.  I need to get back on track!  For now, here is what is on my mind.  I want to figure out this whole photo editing thing!  I have some really good picture's that I want to share, but I want to add a little pizazz to them & I'm intimidated.  For example...I took this picture back on Logan's birthday...

I loved the picture, but I wanted to get rid of his red eye.  The picture looked dull as well.  I will put myself out there & just admit that I couldn't fix the red eye.  I have several different editing programs, including PhotoShop & I just couldn't get anything to work.  Here is the end result of what I figured out though.  This is the version I blogged.  I was happy with the color of his shirt that I brightened & I technically removed the red eye.  You all would seriously gasp if you knew what I did though, ha!!

Then, the other night I was talking to the above mentioned bff, Jeanette, & I was sending pics back & forth with her.  She does this to the same picture...
Now, I have total edit envy!  This is a real problem people...don't laugh at me!  For another example, here is a professional picture that I had taken of Jordan when he was 9 month's old.  You would think that since a professional took this pic, there wouldn't be much improvement that could be done.  Ahem...well, she proved that theory wrong!  Jeanette edited the second one, as if you couldn't tell!  I love the color of the water & the pink accent on the clouds.  It is just awesome!  The color of the towel & his tanned little belly even look's better.

Here is the only other picture that I have attempted to edit. It is a friend of mine's daughter.  I was quite proud of it...I just wish I could edit my own children's photo's, ha!

How about you?  Do you have edit envy?  Are you learning how to edit photo's & if so, what has been your biggest challenge?

Aww, thanks Bia! If I ever take my editing skills on the road, I'll definitely get you to be my PR person! And in 91 days when you get here, I'll pour my blood, sweat, and photoshop into turning you into the best little editor Alabama has ever seen!

oh yes I have it big time!! I do my best with what I have. I use what came with my computer software and picassa. It is definitely not up to par with what I see others do. But it is fun trying to improve them anyways. I think that I just need a new camera. So, I guess I also have camera envy. LOL

Photo editing gets me in trouble - I recently cut and pasted a photo of a male friend onto a gay pride float and then e-mailed it to several of our friends. He's a homophobe so he wasn't happy - but it was fun for me!

Other than that I don't do much editing - I'm old school, I don't like overly colored photographs and think a good photo, is a good photo, is a good photo...

I am trying to figure out photo shop as well. I have figured out a few things but not everything I need to figure out.

Okay, Margaret #1 is a hoot. Now that I've said that, I love to play with picnik, but I'm not a good editor. At all. I just like to play with borders and blurring mostly.

Shana - Try using Picasa to do some of your editing - it is easy, and free!

I can't edit a picture to save my neck. Okay, I can do red eye, but only because I have blue eyed kids, so the program does it automatically.

I would love to take a class or something on editing
